We will show you the basics of essential techniques and tools such as noise reduction, equalisation, and how to add transitions between segments, to enhance the overall quality of a podcast. How to edit raw audio files, mix different audio tracks, and create engaging transitions between segments.
By the end of the course, you will have gained the skills necessary to create more professional-sounding podcasts simply. We can recommend resources and material for more in-depth exploration of audio editing.
Acting as a facilitator between the interviewee and the audience, a good radio show or podcast host has exceptional interview skills.
In the masterclass, we will discuss the importance of research and preparation prior to interviews, interview styles and approaches, and the different considerations for live and pre-recorded interviews. You will be trained in listening techniques, probing, and skillful questioning. We will also cover how to open and close interviews, and gain the trust of your interviewee.
Through role play and group exercises, we will lift the bonnet on the mechanics of an interview, and learn to take control of the conversation with confidence. The biggest worries for any interviewer- evasive interviewees, awkward silences, we will give you the techniques to navigate these tricky situations in an apparently natural and effortless way.
Our aim is to improve your skills and interviewing abilities, whilst identifying and developing your own unique interviewing and presenting style.
Booking guests for a podcast can be challenging and requires research, communication, and professionalism. It can be especially difficult to encourage people to agree to an interview if they aren’t aware of your podcast, or before your audience has grown to large numbers.
With years of experience working as an investigative journalist, our lead mentor for the masterclass, Paul Connolly, has expert advice in regards to approaching people to request an interview. Paul will take questions about the specifics of what you’re looking to achieve and guide you through how to approach potential interviewees.
